What Makes AR650 Steel Superior to Standard AR500 Armor Plates

Note: The M80 results shown are from the required NIJ 0101.06 Level III six-shot penetration test, which the plate passed with no complete penetrations. The 5.56 and 7.62×39 results are V50 ballistic limit tests, which involve many more shots and are used to determine the velocity at which the plate begins to fail. These V50 tests go beyond the NIJ minimum and help show overall performance margin rather than certification pass or fail.
